Afsaneh Pakrou to jury Akbank Short Film Festival

Iranian actress Afsaneh Pakrou is to judge the 16th Akbank Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Iranian actress Afsaneh Pakrou has been named as juror of the 16th edition of Akbank Short Film Festival.

While Pakrou will be on the international competition jury panel of Akbank Film Festival, Mohammad Hormozi’s ‘Inner Self’ will be also in the running at the event.

‘Inner Self’ had already attended some global film festivals, including the 30th MEDIAWAVE Film Festival in Hungary, the 13th Gerand Off film festival in Poland, the 18th Dhaka Film Festival in Bangladesh, the 32nd Exground Film Festival in Germany as well as 16th PROVINZIALE  also in Germany.

Pakrou is a graduate of graphic design. She learned acting at the Samandarian Institute in Iran’s capital city of Tehran.

She began her acting career with the movie ‘Sentenced to Heaven’ (2005). Pakrou has subsequently appeared in the films and series ‘Milk and Honey’ (2009), ‘The Eye’ (2010), ‘Network’ (2011), ‘Remembrance’ (2014), ‘The Two Brides’ (2015) and ‘Delta X’ (2015).

Pakrou has also appeared in the series ‘On the Way to Zayandehroud’ (2010) and ‘Lean on the Wind’ (2011) and ‘More Beautiful than a Dream (2013).

Established in 2004, Akbank Short Film Festival aims to encourage short film production and also to support new filmmakers.

A total of 2217 short films from 74 different countries have been submitted to the festival’s competition sections.

The short film festival will be held on March 16–26, 2020.
